Thank you for your interest and comments regarding “Papillary Thyroid Microcarcinoma: An Over-Treated Malignancy?” [1] In this cohort of 29, 512 patients with papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC), 73.4 % patients underwent total thyroidectomy and 31.3 % patients received radioactive iodine (RAI). Overall 5- and 10-year disease-specific survival (DSS) were 99.6 and 99.3 % in patients who underwent partial versus total thyroidectomy, respectively; these were not significantly different. Patients who underwent any surgery for PTMC had an overall survival (OS) similar to that of the general population of the United States. …
