Panlithiasis of the urinary tract: a case for open lithotomy in the modern era

We decided to address the issue of open surgery for extensive urinary tract stone disease following two cases of near total bilateral lithiasis of the urinary tract (panlithiasis) that have come to our attention from a regional hospital in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. An open surgical approach was used primarily in both cases, whereas endoscopic management was reserved for second look procedures. …
