The editors of the Atlas of Upper Gastrointestinal and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery set out to provide a comprehensive atlas of surgical techniques encompassing the spectrum of disease processes, both benign and malignant, that are encountered by surgeons dealing with organs of the foregut, including the liver, pancreas, and bile duct. The editors specifically aimed to focus on technical subtleties of these complex procedures, and they acknowledge that they did not intend to review elements of disease process, clinical evaluation, and patient selection for operation. …
