Cytoreductive surgery (CRS) for ovarian cancer with peritoneal metastases (OPM) has been established as a beneficial treatment since the 1980s.
1 Racial disparities in access to advanced treatments for ovarian cancer are well documented; Black patients are less likely to receive the same standard of care as White patients, which is reflected in differences in disease-specific and all-cause mortality rates.
2 Alternatively, CRS for colorectal cancer with peritoneal metastases (CRPM) has only recently emerged as an acceptable modality of care and requires significant institutional expertise and resources.
