Obesity has become prevalent in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) [
1]. We notice that 18% of patients with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis suffer from obesity, two principal types of inflammatory bowel disease. IBD is not considered as a traditional morbidity risk factor that expresses itself as cause and effect due to the cytokines involved. It is mainly the super obese in this category that have a high number of hospitalizations for anoperineal related complications, such as abscesses and fistulas, that contribute to the inflammatory component of the diseases. Therefore, treatment for inflammatory bowel disease has a high risk to failure. The literature provides very little on the subject of bariatric surgery on patients with IBD [
