A fundamental problem of American cities is that they are highly “sorted,” with people divided by race, class, age, religion, and ethnicity, according to the urban scholar Mindy Fullilove [
1]. Philadelphia is no exception, as one of the five most segregated of the 100 largest US cities [
2]. In Philadelphia, as in cities across the USA, neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, and even supermarkets often reflect these stark demographic, cultural, and social divides, leaving few opportunities for people to interact with others from different backgrounds [
