Many techniques have been described for the correction of prominent ears. We present our experience with a cartilage incision and anterior scoring technique, derived from the original Chongchet technique. Over a 13-year period, the senior author (FEMM) operated on 150 consecutive patients using this technique. A description of the procedure is presented. Complications and long-term results were reviewed, with a minimum follow-up of 6 months. This technique was found to be safe and to deliver satisfactory results, although minor complications occurred in 21.3% of cases. However, there were no major complications. We compared the results of our series with those in the literature. Causes of suboptimal results were identified, and their avoidance and treatment are discussed.
