Ossasma Al Mefty has edited a second book on controversies in neurosurgery. This is a very timely book, which covers 23 more or less controversial topics that have seen recent developments or are foci of current disagreement. The general format for each chapter is one pro and one con presentation, followed by commentary from a (usually) objective moderator, although some of the technical chapters instead present a number of different approaches for the same goal. This book is a high class synopsis of the discussions that characterize contemporary neurosurgical meetings and discussions among experienced peers. One reason for the high quality is that all chapters are written by contemporary leaders of the field, many by the very surgeons who established the present techniques. …
