Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) are a rare slow-growing malignancy derived from neuroendocrine cells. NETs can occur anywhere within the gastroenteropancreatic system, and the incidence of rectal NETs is increasing. Rectal NETs generally present as small, localized, well-differentiated tumors [1]. Current guidelines for rectal NETs recommend local excision, either endoscopically or transanally, for well-differentiated, localized lesions less than 2 cm; and oncologic colon resection for lesions with high-risk features or those that are greater than 2 cm in size [1, 2]. Within the realm of transanal resection, transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS) has increased in use, initially performed as laparoscopic assisted [3] and now well-described robotically [4, 5]. …
