Meleney’s synergic gangrene is a rare soft tissue infection that occurs as a complication of a surgical procedure with a high mortality rate. Dr. Meleney and Dr. Brewer first described it in 1926 in a patient on the 10th day after the drainage of an appendicular abscess.
