This excellent book is part of a series of new titles intended as a companion to the third edition of Rheumatology (Mosby). It aims to provide the reader with a state of the art and comprehensive text on osteoporosis. The editors most certainly have fulfilled this mission. Both the editors and most of the authors from the different chapters are recognized as experts in the field. The book covers most if not all areas of osteoporosis and, in addition, focuses specifically on bone disorders in rheumatic diseases. Importantly, a strong basic science background is provided for most of the issues covered. Nevertheless, the different chapters are pleasant to read and indicate clinically relevant areas conveying essential information that can be used in clinical practice. In this way, many chapters link bench to bedside in a very comprehensive way. …
