Randomized clinical trials have demonstrated the benefit of endovascular-reperfusion therapy over medical therapy among patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) and large vessel occlusion. The selection criteria of these trials were slightly different but commonly included baseline infarct volume and penumbra as important treatment-related AIS imaging targets. …
