After an introduction of the AO principles applied to the spine and of the history of spine surgery within AO, the biomechanics of the spine and of spinal stabilization are presented, including references from 1970 to 2002 and 1993 to 2005. The most valuable diagram of intradiscal pressure for various activities referencing Nachemson 1975 and Wilke 1999 and some anatomical drawings, summarizing tables of load distribution, bone strength and stiffness, of disc strain and ROM are included. …
