Inferior vena cava (IVC) filters have been shown to be effective in reducing pulmonary embolism in certain high-risk individuals with deep venous thrombosis (DVT) [1]. While anticoagulation therapy remains the standard of care, vena caval filter placement is an alternative management in selected patients [1].
