It was with great interest that we read the study by Lee et al.1 This was a very interesting retrospective study which compared short-term and long-term outcomes of central pancreatectomy (CP) with distal pancreatectomy (DP) and pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD). Unlike most other studies, the authors demonstrated that patients in the CP group had lower exocrine function than those in the DP group, concluding that CP should be limited.
