Patient-reported outcomes (PROs) are important measures in evaluating cancer care. Different treatment modalities are known to affect PROs,1 but overall there is surprisingly little information on how physician characteristics might influence PROs. In the realm of surgery and cancer care, although there are theoretical benefits to surgical oncology specialization, it is unknown how such additional training may or may not improve PROs. This data would be valuable in guiding patients to high-quality providers, providing justification for additional training, and continuing medical education among surgeons. …
