The average amount of total vitamin 25-hydroxyvitamin D was 19.3 ± 0.5 vs. 42.5 ± 1.1 ng/mL (P < 0.001, independent sample t-test). As we described in our article, this is a serum measurement performed by high-performance liquid chromatography. It can be difficult to find the next culprit gland; however, preoperative imaging is helpful, and radio-guided parathyroidectomy can also point toward the correct gland. …
