Several expected realities will follow the release of an updated American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) tumor (T), node (N), metastasis (M) staging strategy. Analyses appearing in multiple cancer-related journals will either positively or negatively validate the efforts of the site-specific expert panels of the AJCC. After more than 25 years of involvement with the creation and publication of AJCC TNM cancer staging, it still is unquestionably more uplifting for me to read a well-done study that positively validates our efforts! This certainly is the case with the current publication in Annals of Surgical Oncology by SenthilKumar et al.1 …
