Papillary lesions of the mammary glands are relatively uncommon. These lesions account for less than 10% of benign breast neoplasms, 0.5–2% of all breast malignancies,
1 and up to 5% of all the lesions undergoing biopsy.
2 They comprise a broad spectrum of entities such as papilloma, papillomatosis, sclerosing papilloma, atypical papilloma, papilloma with atypical ductal hyperplasia, intraductal papillary carcinoma and invasive papillary carcinoma.

8 Distinguishing benign from malignant lesions can be quite challenging without surgical excision because of the lack of distinctive clinical and radiological signs. Overall, clear management guidelines regarding papillary lesions have not yet been established. …
