Subject blinding is critical to minimizing bias in randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a complex and often chronic condition with physical and psychological components. For many patients, psychological issues such as anxiety and stress can exacerbate the existing condition.
