Thrombolysis in thrombocytopenic stroke patients: a case report

Intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) efficacy for stroke patients treated within 4.5 h from onset is currently well established. Nevertheless, a proportion of patients evaluated within a favourable time window is still excluded from treatment on the basis of various contraindications. Thrombocytopenia, particularly a platelet count of less than 100,000/µL is considered a formal contraindication for IVT; nonetheless, some case have been reported regarding IVT administration in this subset of patients. No definitive conclusions can be drawn from the current available literature [1], so adding another case report may be of interest. …
