39-year-old gentleman recently diagnosed with HIV/AIDS with CD4 count of 30 mm−3 presented with 1 week history of fever and shortness of breath. Initial work-up failed to reveal any specific source of infection. A urinary histoplasma antigen was negative. The patient was discharged home on antibiotic therapy for mycobacterium avium complex infection with blood cultures pending. …
