To the Editor: According to World Health Organisation, newborns should be exclusively breastfed upto six months of age [1]. However, traditional practices and beliefs such as prelacteal feeds, use of gripe water and native medications are deterrent to the practice of exclusive breastfeeding in neonates [2].
