Vitamin D Status and Recurrent Wheezing in Infancy: Is There a Link?

At the present time, vitamin D has become a favourite whipping boy for a variety of clinical conditions. It appears that significant proportions of infants, children and adults, have biochemical evidence of vitamin D insufficiency or deficiency, yet do not suffer from the classical clinical features of rickets/osteomalacia. On the other hand, low(er) levels have been associated with a diverse array of clinical conditions but without strong evidence of a cause-and effect relationship. …
