Locating, handling, and reading a primary source typically yields a surprise or two. Like searching for an old snapshot in a musty attic, it may transport you to a different time, but also permit reflection on how things have changed. In the event you only found the negative for that precious photo, you would still have the task of creating a decipherable print in a digital world.
