Redressing the stigmatization of mental illness remains elusive even in this heralded age of social acceptance and diversity. Although clinically not defined as a mental illness, the long history of scholarly focus on epilepsy and its psychosocial significance serves as a model in describing the stigmatization of abnormal neurological disorders.
