The Partnership Access Line (PAL) is a phone-based consultation service available in Washington and Wyoming designed to improve primary care provider access to child and adolescent psychiatrists.1 Primary care providers can call PAL any time during business hours to directly connect with a child and adolescent psychiatrist for provider-to-provider consultation regarding any patient regardless of insurance. Because this level of support is needed nationally, more than half of the US states now have pediatric psychiatry consultation to primary care programs.2 These consultation programs have the potential to shape the care of huge numbers of children but have not been studied widely yet.3 Primary care providers, consultants, and policy makers need data-driven information about children treated within this care model in order to guide clinical and policy practices as this way of delivering care grows.4
