Abstract
Dermoid cysts of the head and neck are uncommon and account for only 7 % of all such cysts. They are most often reported to arise in the floor of the mouth and orbital and nasal regions; they are rarely seen in the parotid gland. To our knowledge, there have been only nine previous case reports in the literature. The authors report a case of a dermoid cyst with a left parotid location and discuss its nature, diagnosis, and treatment. The previous reports are reviewed and commented upon.
