Abstract

This article serves as an introduction to the special issue on existential psychotherapy. The special issue clarifies the nature of existential psychotherapy for those who may not be familiar with the merits of these approaches. There is value in them, but they are often misunderstood. Contributions to this special issue represent a range of international perspectives, with submissions from the United States, the United Kingdom, Colombia, the Russian Federation, and Portugal. These works explain an array of existential psychotherapy schools of thought considering different contexts.
