To the Editor—We read with great interest the recent article by Lisle
et al. about percutaneous gelfoam embolization of chronic enterocutaneous fistulas.
1 The authors describe encouraging early results in three patients and suggest using this procedure in the first-line treatment of such fistulas. Although the approach of Lisle
et al. to this well-known but difficult problem is intriguing, their experience is difficult to put in perspective because it is not presented in the light of other published methods that also have been reported to eradicate this complex condition. …
