Some studies suggest that levels of anxiety have increased in children over the past decade due to changes in stress associated with current events or modern life [13]. In addition, studies have clearly documented an increase in rates of psychiatric visits and service allocation in countries such as the United States [4] with higher rates for children as compared to adults. However, such changes could be related to the threshold for providing services, rather than rates of symptoms. …
