I was interested to read the paper by J. Cheng and colleagues published online November 2, 2016 in the Eur Spine J [1]. The purpose of the authors was to analyze the interobserver reliability and intraobserver reproducibility of the new AOSpine thoracolumbar spine injury classification system in young Chinese orthopedic surgeons with different levels of experience in spinal trauma [1]. They used kappa coefficient and reported moderate reproducibility for all injury types. The raters in Group A provided significantly better interobserver reliability than Group B (P < 0.05) [1]. …
