Lee Goldman and Dennis Aussiello have compiled the 22nd edition of one of the grandfathers of all internal medicine textbooks. Cecil’s textbook of medicine has been one of the world’s most widely used medical references since its original publication in 1927. In the advertisement, it states, “more than 450 renowned authorities present the very latest clinic knowledge augmented by a superb new full 4-colour design and internal navigation system”. Obviously, I tried the internal navigation system and randomly chose memory loss. It stated 433—but rather than page, the number pertains to chapter. It takes a few seconds to grasp this concept. Page numbers rather than chapters are listed on the far top corner of each page. However, given the vast number of pages the concept will be grasped quickly. The book directs you to the tables in Chapter 433 with major causes of dementia and distinguishing features of common progressive diseases with progressive memory loss. This layout is ideal for a quick reference on a given symptom. …
