ASGE EndoVators Summit: defining the role and value of endoscopic therapies in obesity management

On November 20 and 21, 2016, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) and the Association for Bariatric Endoscopy (ABE) hosted the EndoVators Summit at the Institute for Training and Technology in Downers Grove, Illinois to define the role and value of endoscopic therapies in obesity management. Nearly 100 obesity management experts, innovators, and key decision makers from industry, insurers, and regulatory agencies gathered to review the current state of the obesity epidemic in America and the role that endoscopic bariatric and metabolic therapies (EBMTs) could play in the management of this chronic disease. Additionally, ASGE invited leaders of societies with an interest in EBMTs to participate in an exchange of ideas related to the training, research, and education in EBMTs with the goal of identifying areas of cooperation and coordination.
