The Hospital Infantil de Mexico (Children’s Hospital of Mexico) was inaugurated by the President Manual Avila Camacho on April 30, 1943. Dr. Clemente Robles was appointed as neurosurgeon, but as no special ward for neurological surgery existed, he acted only as a consultant. Typical of that elsewhere in the world at that time, Professor Robles, a gifted surgeon who trained in Europe, operated on the abdomen, within the chest (performing open heart surgery), and he also performed neurosurgery. …
