Surgery of the musculoskeletal system not just occupies the second most populous surgical speciality (orthopaedic surgery) but all surgeons are to some extent exposed to or affected by the large volume of bone and joint-related surgical conditions. This can be specialisation of certain aspects of the surgical management of the acute or chronic musculoskeletal pathologies, operating in another speciality, seeing these conditions as associated injuries/comorbidities or simply being compromised by the sheer volume of orthopaedic operative cases in any operating room complex in any part of the world. …
