We thank Jaruvongvanich et al. [1] for their meta-analysis. They performed comprehensive research on the effect of cholecystectomy on the prevalence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) till January 2016. The research revealed that cholecystectomy was significantly associated with NAFLD and concluded that cholecystectomy should be considered as a risk factor for the development of NAFLD, although further prospective studies are needed on the subject. …
