When technical details of a procedure are discussed in the professional literature it usually means that the procedure itself is already well established and accepted. While obviously most of the worldwide inguinal hernia repairs are done in an open fashion, at least among surgeons who advocate laparoscopic repair, the “totally extraperitoneal approach” (TEP) has gained wide acceptance and is considered by most surgeons to be the default procedure. …
