The first International Association for Biologicals (IABs) International Conference on the Development of Therapeutic Cancer Vaccines was held in Los Angeles from 27 to 29 April 2003. This conference was a direct outgrowth of the workshop that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and National Cancer Institute (NCI) held on this topic in 1998. John Petricciani (IABs) welcomed the participants to the conference and thanked Dr Raj Puri (Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, FDA) who chaired the program committee, and the John Wayne Cancer Institute, and the Royal Society of Medicine for cosponsoring the conference. The organizing committee members included Drs Ian Gust, Ulrich Kalinke, Patricia Keegan, Philippe Moingeon, Donald Morton, Raj K. Puri, James S. Robertson, and Howard Streicher. …
