Born as mainly a neuroradiological imaging modality, magnetic resonance (MR) has become a widely used tool, with a large spectrum of applications in daily practice related to abnormalities of all body compartments. MR is now a well-established body-imaging modality, having become the method of choice in evaluating anatomical areas such as the biliary tree, the gynaecological tract, and the large joints. Relatively new promising applications, such as heart imaging, whole-body imaging, and high magnetic field imaging will further enlarge the spectrum of body MR. The authors of this 672-page textbook give an eloquent demonstration of this. The editors, professors Rummeny, Reimer and Heindel, are three well-known German experts in MR imaging, from the centres of Munich, Karlsruhe and Münster. Contributions are accredited to 41 authors from the main German and Swiss institutions. …
