Electronic media, from smartphones to iPads, have changed the way we learn and the way we experience our world. Where once there was the record player, cassette tapes or compact discs, we now carry whole libraries of music and movies in our pocket. Naturally, the way textbooks and educational materials are presented is making a similar change. Radiology residents no longer lug around backpacks filled with 100 pounds of textbooks. Instead our trainees (and many of us, as well) now consult the internet and seek specific, clinically relevant material from radiology-based websites and other sources. Electronic textbooks are a natural progression of this evolution and allow for a compact, personalized format while still maintaining a comprehensive and organized presentation of content. …
