A number of factors have limited our understanding of childhood interstitial lung disease (chILD). ChILD is a rare entity, with an incidence of approximately 0.36/100,000 [1], less than 1/200 of the incidence of adult interstitial lung disease. ChILD includes a group of poorly understood disease entities. There has been reluctance to perform lung biopsies in frequently ill children, limiting the pathologic data available. …
