Lymphedema is defined as a chronic abnormal accumulation of protein-rich interstitial fluid. The etiology of lymphedema is most commonly attributed to impaired lymphatic drainage. The condition is associated with a chronic inflammatory process with or without fibrosis. The process can be generalized or localized to certain anatomic regions, most commonly the limbs. …
