Bio-Alcamid (BA) (polyalkylimide; Polymekon, Milan, Italy) is a non-biodegradable synthetic hydrogel (CE approved, 2001), which has gained global use especially in Europe, Canada, Latin America, Israel and Turkey. It is an alkylic resin characterized by imideamide groups, comprised of 96% apyrogenic water and 4% alkylamide–amide group [1]. In addition, BA has been indicated for soft tissue augmentation in HIV patients with medication-induced facial lipodystrophy, Parry–Romberg syndrome, aesthetic and soft tissue augmentation and as an alternative to autologous fat transfer [24]. This hydrophobic implantable artificial material is often referred to as an injectable liquid endoprosthesis which can be extracted easily by percutaneous puncture and manual pressure. …
