We all know how botulinum toxin works: by interfering with the release of acetylcholine from motor endplates. Thus, chemodenervation, acting for about 14 weeks. And: is almost everybody’s aging face an object for the use of botulinum-toxin? This book presents the art of good botulinum toxin treatment, viz. making the patient look better, but not necessarily younger. As stressed in the text, the therapy relates to the individual patient: “The decision not to treat is always based on the possibility that the patient will not be happy with what the treatment will achieve. Ask yourself before every new treatment ‘will this make this patient happy? If not, why not?’” Perhaps here the author presents us with a key to the patient’s pursuit of happiness—happiness, the normal condition of man [1]. …
