Currently, several effective anti-osteoporotic drugs are available, and their mechanisms of action are well known, albeit widely varying depending on the nature of the drugs involved. This paper addresses the following questions: Firstly, to what extent do these molecules and their mechanisms of action account for their antifracture efficacy? Secondly, it is known that changes in the values of intermediate parameters (BMD, bone remodelling markers) during treatment only partially account for the antifracture efficacy of these drugs. …
