Transvaginal excision of complete vaginal septum with hysterectomy in a nulliparous woman with uterus didelphys

Didelphys uterus with vaginal septum is a rare congenital Mullerian anomaly with a reported incidence of 1:3000 [1]. Surgery is necessary at times to remove vaginal septum, which can cause dyspareunia or obstetric obstruction, or to remove the uterus for benign indications such as menorrhagia or dysmenorrhoea [2]. Urinary tract congenital abnormalities often coexist with genital tract anomalies because of their conjoint embryological development [3]. Didelphys uterus is reported to occur in association with other anomalies, such as renal agenesis, bladder exstrophy with or without vaginal hypoplasia, persistent Gartner duct cyst, congenital vesicovaginal fistula with hypoplastic kidney, and cervical agenesis [13]. …
