Donald J. Cohen, M.D. (1940–2001) was the former director of the Yale Child Study Centre at Yale University, New Haven (USA) and former president (1992–1998) of the International Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions (IACAPAP). He is renowned for his work on Tourette’s syndrome and autism and for his role as a passionate supporter of young researchers [3]. The Donald J. Cohen (DJC) Travel Fellowship aims to foster worldwide the professional development of ‘emerging leaders’ in child and adolescent mental health. …

For scientists in the developing countries the JAACAP is now free (http://www.jaacap.com). Web forums such as medscape offer free access to some scientific journals and congress reports (http://www.medscape.com/welcome/journals).

Some questionnaires, such as the Vanderbilt Assessment Scales, SDQ (sdqinfo.com) or the Kiddie-SADS are available free of charge. The library website of the University of Adelaide gives a detailed list of all psychiatric rating scales and diagnostic aids available online (http://www.adelaide.edu.au/library/guide/med/menthealth/scales.html?template=print).
