“Laparoscopic herniorrhaphy: where (whither) goest thou?” was the editorial sentiment at the beginning of the endoscopic herniorrhaphy era probably to moderate a perceived irrational exuberance [
1]. This editorial exhorted us to record and report endoscopic hernia repair outcomes diligently, lest we be equated with the topical treatment of hernia as propounded by the great Jewish philosopher, Moses ben Maimon. The undertone of this editorial was quite somber in advocating the contents of the issue introducing laparoscopic herniorrhaphy. Dr. MacFadyen et al. reported very encouraging results with this new approach, which have stood the test of time [
2]. Proper documentation and reporting of medical outcomes are a requirement and a reward for the progress of our profession [
3]. Ng and Lee [
4] deserve appreciation from our fraternity for reporting a failure of their previously advocated tailoring of the hernia prosthesis. Their cautionary note about tailoring the mesh and advocating a retailored mesh seems a paradox. This idea of sartus resartus needs to be discussed. …
