Laparoscopic gastric bypass is gaining popularity as an acceptable option for the treatment of morbid obesity. With the growing number of bariatric procedures being performed in the United States, it is important for surgeons to understand the potential late complications after laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery. A common late complication after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass is marginal ulceration, defined as ulcers at the margins of the anastomosis between the gastric pouch and the small bowel. The incidence of marginal ulceration after gastric bypass ranges from as low as 0.6% to as high as 16% [4]. …
